#1 – Pick Some, Sip Some

Fall is apple pickin’ and cider sippin’ time. Wander the orchard and pick ’em yourself or shop the farm market and pick up a bushel. Both Mercier Orchards and Mountain View Orchard have tasting rooms featuring orchard-fresh hard cider, so be sure to swing by for a sip. Call ahead to check U-pick schedules.

#3 – Paddle Thru Fall

Fall is your last chance for whitewater adventure. Rafting ends Oct. 27 on the Ocoee River and Nov. 1 on the Chattooga. Fall is prime time for rafting, with water temperatures in the 70s and the weather still a mild 65-70 degrees. At the same time, the rivers are much less crowded, and you’ll get to see the leaves in all their autumn splendor.

Tours are available to area falls and attractions. Or, do it yourself and head over to the Fannin County Park or the old Lake Blue Ridge Campground on Dry Branch Road and pick out a comfy cruiser from the automated bike rack.
